Eavesdropping/No Comment
Published by hasan January 19th, 2008 in daily life.I was walking on campus here in Tokyo a couple of days ago when I overheard a conversation in passing between two local students. I assume they are both taking a course together in the Arabic language as an elective.
Student 1: The one thing I’d really like to know is whether native speakers of the Arabic language ever confuse the sound of “La” with the sound of “Ra”.
Student 2: Hmmm.. Good question. I never thought of that before.
i think you need to put this in context. is there something about the japanese language that confuses la and ra? we use la all the time anyway,

The Japanese language does not distinguish between the letters R and L, making it difficult for many natives of the language to pronounce the two different letters clearly when speaking in a different language.
