Eavesdropping/No Comment

I was walking on campus here in Tokyo a couple of days ago when I overheard a conversation in passing between two local students. I assume they are both taking a course together in the Arabic language as an elective.

Student 1: The one thing I’d really like to know is whether native speakers of the Arabic language ever confuse the sound of “La” with the sound of “Ra”.
Student 2: Hmmm.. Good question. I never thought of that before.

i think you need to put this in context. is there something about the japanese language that confuses la and ra? we use la all the time anyway,

    Ammaro -
The Japanese language does not distinguish between the letters R and L, making it difficult for many natives of the language to pronounce the two different letters clearly when speaking in a different language.
