Reflections in the Second Person

Here’s another entry in the second-person point of view. Just helps me keep things in scope this way.
**************
So, he’s been away from the comfort of home for nearly a whole year he says? He has yet to overcome obstacles like language and entrance exams? Why does he seem happy and yet sad at once?
Today, he went looking for a new appartment to move into. All he found were overprice, undersized little shoe-boxes, but one them will have to do. Later in the evening, he had a test for his “Shodan” (first level “black belt”) in Itto-ryu (the form of swordsmanship he is doing). In the evening, he spoke to her for a while, telling her to take care of herself while she is away on holiday, and while he travels back home for four short-long weeks. He’ll miss her.
He’s been thinking lately, about where he wants to go in life. When he arrived here, he thought that he would like try hard, learn about where he comes from, figure out a solution to its problems, go back and make it a better place. Suddenly, he realizes, there are more problems than he thinks he could handle. He begins to doubt whether what he is here to fight for might not WANT to be fought for? It just wants to keep on living happily ever after in its constant state of anarchy. Is it worth it to go on and try or should he just resign to being a street musician in the cold streets of this cold city?
Rubbing over his chin, he realizes it’s been days since he shaved. When did all that time pass him by? What is it he needs to take care of to get back in focus? He thinks of her and how far she helped him out.
Time to return home for a vacation/reflection period. That’s what he’ll do. Go back home.
