Back to the INTERNET CAFE

Okay, here I am in an internet cafe in Kunitachi, the same internet cafe I came to when I FIRST arrived in Japan. I haven’t been here for months, just because I bought a laptop of my own, but the internet in the dorm hasnt been working last night. I woke up at 3.50am this morning, after going to bed at an early 11pm. After that, I had my suhoor, a meal to prepare myself for another day of fasting; I had some cereal and tea. I wasn’t feeling sleepy after that, so, I decided to open up a few Japanese language books and studied till 5.00am. The sun was just rising, I THINK, but it is difficult to tell since the skies are clouded all over and it has been raining since yesterday. I shaved then jumped into the shower, and even used CONDITIONER (woohoo, silky smooth hair). By 6.00am,  I was out of my dormitory, walking about the streets of Kunitachi, when I decided to come to this internet cafe; nothing else anyone can do at this time in Tokyo. The only stop I made on the way was at the local FamilyMart (24 hour Convenience Store), and bought a NEW MECHANICAL PENCIL!
When I walked into the Internet Cafe, I pretended I didn’t speak Japanese just because I didn’t feel like spending too much time listening to the shopkeeper’s “house-rules” speil. I ran into stall number 3, switched on the PC and connected to the rest of the world. In the stall next to me, I can hear the snores of a guy; who has probably spent the night here. It is a little smart if you ask me. To spend a few hours in an internet cafe doesnt cost more than a few hundered yens (which is quite cheap actually) is a whole lot cheaper than spending the night at a hotel; besides, this internet cafe is right near the local trainstation - he can be at work on time, hopefully. Good for him. Too bad he had to have his breakfast just a few minutes ago; a stinky cigarette - the breakfast of Champions, huh?
Later today, I am going to meet my academic advisor and his students, and discuss the progression of his Seminar Course that we will be taking next week. Afterwards, I am going to meet a good friend from Bahrain, visiting Tokyo for a conference. Ain’t I a lucky Bahraini?!
Now, I am listening to Fairooz’s “A`atini Al-Nai” (probably one of the best songs of all time, regardless of everything that needs to be regarded). Listening to this song, I am taken back home, in the arms of my family, everyone happy, everything just fine. This is just what I need before taking the Japanese language placement exam I have to take at 8.50am (in one hour and a half). I am not too worried. I am armed with a new mechanical pencil, afterall. I need not worry.
