Hisako’s Wedding Reception

Yesterday, I went to the wedding reception of Hisako, who was a good friend during my two-months voyage on the Nippon Maru last year, as part of the Ship for World Youth program.

The night before the reception, I took a train to Higashi Kawaguchi Station in Saitama, to meet Marco - also a good friend from the Ship for World Youth program. I went to see him, carrying a change of clothes, my traditional Bahraini outfit and my Oud (Middle Eastern musical instrument). We first went to one of Marco’s most favorite Ramen shops for a hearty Ramen dinner. It was delicious. No wonder that dude loves Ramen!

Later on, we drove to a Karaoke Bar nearby, Marco with his guitar, me with my Oud and practiced for Hisako’s Wedding reception. We practiced for three hours. Marco had arranged a medley of songs to play the next day, we had to sing in English and Japanese. Hhehehehe, yes, I DID sing! (Believe it or not). We also had a chance to play around with the Karaoke box, and sang some rediculous renditions of songs by bands like the Beatles, Queen, Oasis and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
The next day, we caught the train at 9.30am and headed over to Yurakucho, where the wedding was being held. We got there, changed into the Bahraini outfits (marco had one, as well; the uniform I had given him the year before on the last day on the Ship). We mingled with the guests and had a GREAT time. There were many friends from the Ship for World Program I was on last year, many of whom I haven’t seen since parting with last year in Yokohama Harbor, and it was WONDERFUL to see them again. At the party, Marco and I played and sang some songs, which seemed to amuse some of them people there. Oh well, we had fun performing. I am very happy for Hisako and her husband, and I truly wish the best in their future. The look great together, and so happy.

After the party, all the friends from the Ship went out together for some coffee and cake at a cafe nearby called “Le Cafe Bleu” (Don’t ask me why I still remember that). All the conversation was in Japanese, but I managed to understand most of the conversations, even though I wasn’t particularlry good in chatting. Oh well, my friends from the Ship were patient with me, and corrected whatever mistakes I made. They even taught me a few expressions. I guess it can’t possibly be bad.

I returned to Kunitachi soon after.. I wanted to go to my swordclass that evening, but I was already late and exhausted. I fell asleep by 9pm! Can you believe that? and I slept a LOT the next day. Lazy me :)
