Long Saturday

Wow; what a day. Today was one of those days in which I managed to accomplish many things. I was in the Karate dojo today by 10.00am till 12.30pm to get some practice out of the way. I had to run quickly back to the dormitory to get a shower and run back outside to the university’s auditorium. A famous Japanese Soprano was performing today in my university and I took the opportunity to enjoy the day. The concert lasted around two and a half hours. It was beautiful. The auditorium of my university has great acoustics and the design of the stage made one forget that this is Japan. Wouldn’t it be something to be a performer of some art on such an awesome stage; in such a great hall. Well, putting those dreams aside, I managed to accomplish the next best thing; I ran back to my room after the concert, and played Oud just outside the Hall; in the center of Hitotsubashi University’s West Campus, near the pond. In the process I managed to FINALLY piece together a few melodies that have been lingering in my head for a while. I will be recording this piece very soon. I still haven’t given the piece a name, but I am tentatively thinking of something to do with “bridging different states of mind of different times”. I realize that bridges only connect things in the physical sense (land to land), but don’t really link non-physical things. I dunno. The piece is basically a combination of a few melodies that have been with me for a while but never found a place, or a song, to settle down in.   Ah, I speak about this piece as if I created a masterpiece. Well, it isn’t, but it hopefully it is a step in a good direction.   By the way, I am in Japan to study Economics; not music. haha.. I feel bad.
Later this evening, I tried cooking for the second time. At around 9pm. I didnt eat anything all day before that. I guess I forgot to eat. Happens sometimes when you are absorbed into something else. Today; I cooked up another disaster-piece; rice, chicken and put some pickled onions into the mix, too. Oh well, at least the rice was half-decent this time. The picture at the bottom shows what I cooked.
Tomorrow morning I will be going to Asakusa to see the famous festival that happens there in the third weekend of May in each year. I am sure it will be fun and strange. Maybe I will be writing up another entry about my experience at Asakusa.
In the meantime, I realize it is 11.30pm. I don’t know whether I should try to write down the notes to the piece I composed or go to sleep. It is a Saturday night, afterall. Oh well. Things will work out. They always do.
